Equine Assisted Psychotherapy
Experiential Learning Programs
A VARIETY OF PROGRAMS
Equine Assisted Psychotherapy, or "EAP" is an experiential, multi-sensory (hands-on, tactile) form of therapy that utilizes the horse as a partner in the therapeutic process of emotional and spiritual growth. It is holistic in nature with equine-based activities designed to incorporate the use of the mind, body and spirit in a natural outdoor setting. A collaborative approach is used between a certified clinical professional, equine specialist and a variety of horses. This team works together to provide participants with Experiential activities specifically designed to meet the unique needs of each individual, couple, family or group.
All activities are interactive and may include, but are not limited to, haltering, grooming, leading and the use of obstacle courses. Ultimately, however, the goal is to provide participants with opportunities to develop greater self awareness in order to work through and process emotional issues that block the pathway to a healthy, whole and conscious lifestyle.
Horses have had a huge impact on my life. I grew up in an unstable, basically dysfunctional family full of conflict. I found stability and peace when I was with the horses. They taught me assertive communication, work ethic and consistent, honest validation of myself as a worthwhile person.
Now that I am a therapist I want to share this experience with others, whether or not they are in emotional distress. Horses not only help us heal, they also teach us joy. Every moment spent with them is a gift.
